use google without opening your browser

google has launched a free tool that lets you surf the web without opening your web browser. a search box in the windows toolbar at the bottom of yuour screen allows you to enter your search term in the usual way and the results appear in a mini viewer. you can then click on the site and either view it in the mini browser or choose to launch your main browser to view the page in full!

Very useful it is too.

But since converting to Mozilla and Firebird, there is an even better option: select some text, right click and you can search for it via google. Very good when you get used to it adn I miss it if not using Firebird.

Deskbar, Yes, it was featured in last weeks Web User Magazine. Most impressive. Still in Beta though.

They are currently testing a service that lets you search by your location.

You can do the same in IE too.

DieSse - How? I have not noticed it with IE 5.01 or 6. Does it need an add on module / plug in?

With Firebird / Mozilla, I just highlight a word or phrase and right click; on the menu is the option "web search for ...".
