Usb2k.exe - DLL initialization Failed

  Tj_El 20:42 02 Sep 2005

When I request "shut down" of the PC I get this error message pop-up window before the machine proceeds to shut down:

"Application popup: Usb2k.exe - DLL Initialization Failed : The application failed to initialize because the window station is shutting down. "

I cannot fathom why it's happening so am at a loss as to how to fix this.

Can anyone help at all?

Many thanks.

Do you have a Compaq PC?

Hi woodchip

Ah! Sorry missed off the pertinent details.. :-(

It's a self-built PC. About 3 years old.
Running XP Pro SP2, up to date on all Windows patches.

Then you may have Malaware on your computer, You need to run some scanners like Ad-Aware Spybot. and watever else you have on computer

Hi woodchip,

hmmm... yes... forgot to mention that I have a Compaq keyboard and I think at some point I probably installed the software to enable the QuickAccess keys on the keyboard - don't know why it didn't strike me at the time...I'm only typing this out using the keyboard (<embarrassed grin>)

Is there any way to disable this exe?
