USB2 Multi card reader problem

  Demora 22:59 21 Dec 2005

I have a multi card reader (cheap.....I know you get what you pay for g)

After connecting to the pc or my laptop I'm getting the same error message 'this action cannot be performed because of a i/o problem. I have tried it with two different card types a Secure Digital and a Memory stick Pro Duo

Both PC and laptop have a gb of memory and running winxp home.

Is this the device

What does the Event log say when you plug it in

Are your USB ports working okay with your other USB devices?

Maybe you haven't installed the USB drivers correctly.

What does it say in the Device Manager?

Did you install the driver for the USB card reader before you connected it?

I know some of these card readers claim that XP should automatically use the right driver for it but with mine I had to install the driver from the cdrom supplied with it (stated it was for Windows 98 but it still got the card reader working on XP).

If it didn't come with a cdrom containg the drivers for it do a search on the internet for a compatible driver.
