USB pen drive or not?

Can anyone tell me if it would be a good idea to buy a USB pen drive, I am having trouble backing up my files to CD and thought this might be a good alternative. All I want is to back up files on poota.

256MB seems to be the best cost / capacity ratio... although as 512mb seem to get more popular, they too are becoming good value.

As a backup device though, they are not great - what problems are you having with the CDs?

1Mb pen drives are around £65 now.

That should be 1Gb. ;-))

Pen drives are very useful, but I think that something like a "Maxtor one touch USB" external drive would be more useful for you. It seems you don`t require portability. I have one, and its great!. A 80Gb version costs something like £85.

A less expensive alternative is the LaCie 80Gb external at about £65.

Much better value than a 1Gb pen-drive.
