Hi Everyone,

My friends computer keeps crashing as soon as a USB device is plugged in, i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix this (because i'm abit stumped and not sure of what to try).

Try deleting ALL usb items in Device Manager, then re-boot computer, usb will then be re-newed.

I had a similar problem with a Netgear WiFi USB dongle. It instantly caused a blue screen of death when inserted. I upgraded the firmware and used the latest drivers. But it still continued to cause the BSD. However it worked OK on another computer. Both ran XP.

I've just taken the offending device, that's been in drawer for a couple of years, and plugged it into my brand new Vista powered laptop. No BSD!

I put it down to 'just one of those things'.

Good luck.

The computers running xp and its pretty slow so i'm guessing not a massive amount of RAM.

Thanks for all of your current responses theyre much appreciated!
