usb adaptor

ive just bought a electric usbadaptor..
its called a Switched Mode AC to DC adaptor for usb devices .what i,d like too know is how do they work?it just plugs into the mains ,then theres 2 usb port sockets on the end,so how can i connect a say keyboard or camera into it when its not connected too the Pc.. thx

To do as we have said. Charge some usb device from any mains outlet. Run a USB light etc. Run a external HDD (With a data cable to yor computer)
Run other external CD/DVD players (again with data cable to your computer)

Dear Swanny2

You have bought a device for charging things (like iPods) that are normally chaged from USB and don't come with mains chargers.

You need a powered USB hub like this:
