USB acting odd

  Dinkiz 16:14 15 Sep 2004

Hi All,
Wondered if any of you ut there could advise me why this is happening:

Every time I turn on my computer for some reason my microsoft intellimouse doesn't work. To get it to light up and start working I have to pull it out of the USB and then put it back in again. This sometimes happens with my USB Boradband no power until I pull it out and then put it back again. Everything else is working fine...any ideas???

Cheers for now,
Dinkiz ;o)

is the power your devices are comsuming, look under hardware and check to see what the power allocation is compared to how much the devices are taking up, especially with un-powered hubs.

Thanks fo replying so quickly I've actually stopped using a hub and only have 2 devices plugged into USB.......hhmmmm strange one huh :o(

The broadband modem needs all the power available from a USB hub. If you have the mouse plugged into a port on the same hub, that will explain things. Look in Device Manager, Power.

Cheers Graham,

I'll take a look and let you know.

Check the Microsoft Knowledge Base, I seem to remember seeing this reported and a possible workaround or Hotfix patch
