USB 2.0 Upgrade Question (simple I hope !!)

I'm awaiting delivery of a new Net Minidisc, which uses USB 2.0. I only have USB 1, and am running out of ports. I'm aware that I can still use the existing USB 1 ports, however I've run out of ports on the current hub.
I'm therefore thinking of upgrading to USB 2.0 and buying a new 7 port USB 2.0 hub.
My question is how do I know that my PC will work with USB 2.0 ? is it just case of installing the new USB 2.0 card in a spare slot ?

Thanks in advance

Dave

if the usb 2 card uses pci, you will need a spare pci slot, you can plug the usb 2 card into that and then you will have usb2

your computer will allow this aslong as you have the appropriate slot for the card on the motherboard, as the card will take over once installed and run at usb2

if you buy a usb2 hub and plug it into a usb1 slot then once installed the usb2 hub will be a usb2 hub

hope that makes sense to you

Oh no it won't - think you've got your 1s and 2s or descriptions mixed up.

As long as you have SP1 no problem with a PCI card.

XP Home fully updated, so should be OK.

Thanks all of you for your help
