80040E09 is a common error with the Jet database engine - Google will return plenty of hits for that error number, although none that I saw associated with WMP.

Have you been tinkering with Office or Access?

No, it only shows up in WMP 8.

How do I reinstall it?

Also I have a problem with system restore, operation failed?

When I make a new playlist this error pops up.

I dont want WMP 9 I want 8, so how can I get it to work again and sys restore?

"No, it only shows up in WMP 8." - Yes, but if WMP is trying to use a shared component of Office (the Jet Database), and you have been tinkering with Office, or Access, it could have had a knock-on effect on WMP

"How do I reinstall it?" Reinstall what?

"I dont want WMP 9 I want 8, so how can I get it to work again.." Huh? Who mentioned specific versions of WMP?

System restore - do you get a specific error message, or just operation failed?

Which is the most urgent of your urgent problems - system restore or your playlist?

Playlist solved via click here;en-us;272204

Eventually but it took a lot of searching, the file was set to read only for some reason.

System restore I will start another thread on if I cannot find it on Support.microsoft. com

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
