Upgrading opinion

I am considering upgrading my five year old PC Windows 98 to Win XP Pro but I am not sure whether it could take this upgrade. I have Intel Pentium2 351MHZ; BIOS American Maegatrends 07/15/95; Bus Type PCI; Memory 256MB (52% used);HD 6.33GB; DOS7.10: Graphics Card ASUS V7100 Nvidia GeForce 2MX; Direct X 9.0b.
If I remember correctly, once I came across a Microsoft site which can check the computer and give you exactly what you need to replace for an upgrade, but I cannot find it again. Your opinion or advice appreciated.

I think that you should stick with Win98 (if it is second edition) - if it is updated and has correct drivers, it is hard to beat and with your 256mb or RAM you will have a good machine.

WinXP is good, but I don't know the value of moving to XP unless you have a specific need.

It will be easier to just buy a new base unit with xp pro installed. Then plug your monitor and speakers in.
