upgrading to new M/B and CPU

  starlet 15:49 20 Dec 2003

I have a new Jetway V266B M/B and a new AMD 2400 CPU can anyone tell me what I need to set the CPU Ratio Selectors to: I have five jumpers to set, Ratio 5.0x upto 12.5x.

Sorry I told you wrong it is a AMD 1800 not a 2400

Should be set to 11.5
11.5 x 133 = 1529MHz

When the jumpers are shorting the two pins is that called ON? and when no jumpers is that OFF?It is reading my chip as unknown make = 1200, but it is an AMD 1800

There is also a jumper to set fsb to 133 remove the contact from the pins.

cpu ratio jumpers
For x 11.5 it should be
put contact on for on and remove for off.

Take a look at the picture in the manual to make sure you are viewing the jumpers from the right angle.

Can you post what contacts are on the pins at the moment.

Thanks Rayuk I have got it how you told me but I seem to be missing somthing,I'll go back for another look, the manual is useless lots of faded screen shots you cannot make out how it should be.
Thanks again and a Merry Christmas to you and all the good folks on here.

Would it make any difference that I am using 128mg of P100 ram?

  Rayuk 18:39 21 Dec 2003

Shouldnt make any difference should still be able to recognise the cpu

Exactly which version board do you have 266A 266B or 266VM,also can you check your bios version should be on start up screen either A04 or A11

  starlet 22:05 21 Dec 2003

The board is a V266b I have not been able to read what bios version it is, cannot find it on screen? have rechecked all jumpers and they are set as you told me.
It has DDR and SDRAM slots have tried both kinds of ram no change so it's not that.
Have tried the CPU on a ASrock board and am still getting make unknown but this time it reads 1900+ could it be that I have a rogue CPU? I'll take it back to my supplier tomorrow and see what they have to say. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow many thanks.

Both M/B and CPU have been checked out and am told are working fine but it still says unknown CPU 1900+ anyway so long as they are working it's OK, I'll resolve this thread and ask another question
