Upgrading my PC (Gaming, 500 Flexable Buget)

  Xerco 11:04 19 Aug 2010

Hey my systems seems to be falling by the way side lately so i thought it was time for an upgrade so input would be greatly appreciated.

Current System:

Processor: E8500 Duo 3.16GHz @ 3.2GHz
with artic 7 fan
Memory: 4094MB RAM 1033MHZ Kingston
Hard Drive: 500 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Motherboard: P5QL Pro Asus
Computer Case: NZXT Alpha
PSU: 650W Corsair

Im currently at work and cant remeber exact details on system so please ask if more detail needed.

I was thinking of upgrading my mother board, cpu & graphics card by going with:

ATI Radeon 5870 - £275.00
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4GHz - £135.00
Titan Fenrir Special Edition - £32.98
Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX - £169.99
= £612.97 (bit much)

Iv always been an intel and nvidia guy so far so this is a different route for me.

I was also thinking of a i5 intel and a 470gtx and different mother board?

do i even need a new CPU? can i just get a new GPU and over clock the cpu?

any help would be great.

system will be mainly for gaming.

with a flexable buget of 500£
