upgrading hd in toshiba laptop

Hi guys, I would like to upgrade the hard drive in my Toshiba A30 laptop from 30gb to possibly 60 or 80gb.The processor is a p4 2.8ghz with 512ram.
The present disk is a Hitachi Travelstar Pt no 08k0910. 4200rpm.
1/ Can this laptop be upgraded safely?
2/ will the Phoenix bios cope being upgraded?
3/If this is possible and i replaced the existing hd with another Hitachi travelstar, Is there a particular Part no i would have to look for, for compatability purposes, and would a speed advantage to 5400 or 7500 give me a vast improvement.

Get a copy of MicroMart [out Thursdays]
for suppliers and advice.
Toshes are easy normally the HDD livers under the battery.

It does not have to be any particular make of drive- though other makes [IBM WD etc' screw holes may not line up, but this easily cured with double sided tape and the like.
The max siz of drive will have to investgated for the BIOS and operating system, other chums on this site will advise I am sure
