Upgrading a graphics card

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. How do I determine if it is compatible with my motherboard. Also when it says DX 12 will it work still if I only had Dx 11? Or if there any good sources that I can look up to help too! Thank you for any help!

Why do people omit the most important part of any question

Would help if we saw the motherboard, easy to take a photo or post the make/model
