Upgrade to XP program problem

  Teasle 10:16 18 Aug 2006

Yesterday I upgraded to WXP ome from W98SE but to ne honest I'm not sure whether I did a 'new install' or an 'upgrade'.
I did back up my files before hand but not my programs.
When I first accessed XP I thought it was a clean install and that all my existing programs and documents had been overwritten but when I look again, my programs are there in the directory but not listed as 'programs' in the control panel so I can't access them unless I try and locate a .exe file which they don't all seem to have.
My question is, how can I get XP to recognise these previously installed programs?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

It sounds as though the programs you had previously installed are not of much importance to you. If you have copies of them, you may as well start again and do a clean install of XP, then reload your programs (as long as you have them backed-up with your relevant drivers)
