Upgrade my CPU

  Mark-191266 19:16 21 Jan 2005

I have a Compaq Presario 5365EA with a P4 1.5 processer and I want to upgrade it to a P4 2.0. Do you know is this is possible and the best place to buy one, get one or acquire one.

is it a laptop? if it is, then forget about it

if it is a desktop, dig out manual and give us the detailed technical specification

Depending on what you do with your computer, is this minor rise in the cpu going to make much of a difference?

Hi, I agree fully with Taw® - can't see any point in such a small upgrade?

Sorry - curlyhair

You really need to double the CPU speed to notice a gain, and that usually means a new motherboard.

You would see more benefit by adding memory (depending on what you have now).

like everyone else has said unless your doing really big things with it ie gaming or video editing then there is no point in upgrading the CPU...either upgrade the memory or its a whole new motherboard and CPU to match...

Manual does not give us any imfo about the cpu or motherboard ?
I can go 2.0 or higher I need 2.0 to run my dvd writer I have brought or do you think it may run ok with my 1.5

  Noelg23 21:28 21 Jan 2005

1.5GHz is fine for a DVD writer...cos the writer wont know the difference between 1.5 an 2.0...your best bet would be to increase the memory....and how can the manual not give you any info about the cpu or motherboard? what manual is it?

  Mark-191266 21:54 21 Jan 2005

Compaq own manual

  Noelg23 22:07 21 Jan 2005

well it should say what CPU it uses and the motherboard...either that or check the website...
