Unwanted Toolbar: help with possible hijack please

  Camille 20:29 03 Feb 2004

I recently found a new toolbar has appeared without my downloading it (although my daughter may have done so) - because it keeps replacing my google toolbar without being asked, I think I may have been hijacked. I ran hijack this but need help deciphering the results
Can anyone help please?

"right click" your toolbar and un-tick the offending item, then identify the programme the toolbar came from and uninstall it, or run your ad/spyware programmes, you could also "search" for the offending item and delete it

right clicking only works till next time you open an IE window then it's back. I can't find the programme file - the toolbar calls itself shlluglquhq, which doesn't correspond to anything I can find in programme files or by using search. If I could find the programme I'd be okay

I've run spybot and adaware and cleaned the system, but this toolbar is still there. In fact,I just tried to right click it and it directed me to a casino site so there's definitely something fishy about it

You can post your log here but be aware it will be a bit scrambled. Before you do this ad-aware click here spybot click here - download, update and run.

Then if necessary CWShredder click here

Sorry, cross-posting. Try CWShredder.

Also try CoolWebShredder click here

If you post the results of Hijack this in small chunks, say 20 lines per post we can examine it.

Snap. Although I bow to your age, wisdom and experience and age again

I found the offending line from hijack this - does this mean it's a hijack attempt or is it a genuine programme? Is it safe to delete?

O3 - Toolbar: shlluglquhq - {c75962b6-b077-4256-9808-0dcbbecc1f08} - C:\DOCUME~1\Cassie\APPLIC~1\prpbzmht.dll

Cassie is my teenage daughter who has a limited user account on XP - should she be able to download programes? How can I prevent this?

Not found on Google = safe to delete.

  Camille 21:34 03 Feb 2004

btw, I ran CWShredder and it said my pc was clean!
