Unwanted Favourites and Homepage

A friend of mine says that occasionally when he logs onto the Internet his homepage has changed from Freeserve to (i think its) 123.com, how can this change without the users consent? He says he hasn't changed.

Also he says that some unwanted favourites have appeared in his favourites list, they can be deleted but on logging on again these unwanted links are back. I thought the user had to add favourites.

Any ideas??????

These things are most likely spyware which can be removed by installing and running Ad-aware click here and/or Spybot S&D click here then stopping them being downloaded with Spywareblaster click here

You can prevent your homepage being hijacked with StartPage Guard click here

P.S. I hope your friend had a good anti-virus program installed as well.
