unsecure wireless link

  jagx400 07:28 27 Nov 2005

I have borrowed a laptop from work for use at another site, and while I was sat here at home I fired it up. It promptly found my home BB wireless network (Im on NTL cable) and connected and then told me it was an unsecure link, I am sitting here happily surfing from the laptop.

My question is what stops my neighbours from linking up and how can I make it secure so only the computers I want to allow can link up.

Its a Dlink cable router

Its possible to use either WEP/WPA encryption,IP/MAC address filtering to secure it.There is pages of info on setup of these security measures, even Networking forum in PCA has the info.
