Unscheduled server reboot & RAM parity error

I have an Acer Altos 11000 server at a site in a Windows 2000 network. Over the last few days, it has apparently attempeted to reboot itself overnight (don't know why) but fails to do so, as it reports a RAM parity error, requiring the user to press Esc to allow the boot to continue.

I have recently changed the Administrator password but otherwise have made no changes to the server, which has been running without problems for 12 months.

If anyone can explain this behaviour, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Sounds like you've got a RAM parity error - are there any reasons for thinking otherwise?

You will need to replace the offending RAM.

No, no reasons to think otherwise, really. I always live in hope that there's an easier solution, that's all.

Thanks.

Oh, by the way, does the RAM parity error explain why the server's attempting to reboot itself from time to time?

Forgive my ignorance - I've not had this problem before...
