My daughter has just started University and her laptop's hard drive has just failed. It was a HP Compaq NX9005, about 2 years old. I need to purchase a replacement so I've been looking for 512-1024ram, 80-100 HDD but I don't know which is the best processor Turion/ Centrino etc? She needs good battery life. Iv'e seen the Acer Aspire 5044 for £399, and the Acer 3102 for £469, both of which would probably fit the bill (£500 Max) Anything else I should look for? She only has 2 games, but studying languages and I'm hoping to future proof for the price so would the 64bit be better? Any help for panicking Dad much appreciated. Thanks,
Aitch2

Go for Centrino and don't get a 64bit laptop. I would go for the Acer 3102.
