uninstall modem

  orihuela 14:25 13 Jan 2007

I have just purchased a wireless router so I can network my desktop pc and my laptop. The instructions say "ensure that any previously used broadband modem has been uninstalled"..........I can't find out how I do this. Its not listed on add/remove programs either.

Any help?

You may find it in device manager, or type the name in 'search'.

Modems are not always listed but drivers for the device may remain you will probably need to uninstall them to avoid software conflict...

if you cant uninstll disable
goto to device manager then under network adapters left click on modem click disable
this will save some time unistalling opening up case and removing modem

thanks for your help.

What a nightmare it has been. The cd included with the modem/router was for different versions of the one we purchased. We found the BT helpdesk (in India) brilliant though - we eventually found the key underneath the router and had to configure it manually plus had to change the channel number. I couldn't have managed without them.
