Unexplained rebooting

  Darren-512879 20:58 25 Jun 2006

A couple of days after getting my new PC, it started rebooting for no apparent reason. No error message, no obvious reason for the crash, it just switches itself off and on again. It has happened whilst using several different apps so I don't think it is software related although this problem did take a couple of days to show itself.

I've run virus checks, defragged the drive but it still happens.

Any ideas?

Open System in Control Panel.

On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.

Under System Failure, select the check boxes that correspond to the actions you want Windows to perform if a Stop error occurs:

Write an event to the system log specifies that event information will be recorded in the system log.

Send an administrative alert specifies that your system administrator will be notified.

Automatically reboot specifies that Windows will automatically restart your computer.
