Unexpected shut down

  geedad 06:59 22 May 2007

My PC unexpectantly shut down after I had clicked on a link when browsing a Website of a disk supplier.
It re-started, then reported:
.... has recovered from a serious error.
It then shows the following:
Followed by another line:
Same again, but ending with sysdata.xml
There does not seem to be anything wrong once the PC starts again, but this is annoying.
I suppose that many of you have had this happen. If so, how does one stop it n future?
Windows Xp Home. 3 GHz. Intel Pentium 4 HT, ATI RADEON 9200 and 160 GB HDD.

Hi, run CCleaner click here - when you open CCleaner just run it in its default settings.

I already had this installed, but I used it, got an update!
I hope this does the trick. Do you recommend using this at every start?

Hi, No it should not be necessary to use it at every start - just about once a week should be ok.

If it does not do the business, I will try and think of what else to try.

OK! Technotiger!
I will certainly post again if it goes awry again.
That has NOT been the first time it has happened, so maybe something else is doing it.
I regularly use Ad-Adware and Spybot to keep the PC clean. Also, have Ntl's Netguard AV, and Windows Defender installed. So I have got my guard up!!
Many, many thanks for your speedy and helpful response.
It is, as I have said many times, a great Forum.
