I have deleted an excel spreadsheet in error. Its not in the trash can nor in temp files & to make matters worse my backup won't.
I am running Windows XP home, version 5.1. Excel is 2002.
I have tried system restore in XP, doesn't find the spreadsheet.
The MS-DOS "undelete" doesn't appear to work either.
Anyone any ideas, other than buying some software?

Try going to Tools > Options > Save (in Excel) and check the location of the Autorecover folder, then check in that folder.

Hi, I have a free program called Restoration 2514 which will retrieve files from the hard drive providing they haven't been written over by something else in the meantime.
I'm not sure where I downloaded it from but if you you cannot find it anywhere, I would gladly e-mail it to you if you wish (193KB)
It is similar to Fastfileundelete but suitable for Windows XP.
