Dell XPS 13 9370 (2018) review
I use Windows 7, and my default email client is Incredimail. I have two Hotmail accounts and one Gmail account, all of which I view in Incredimail.
A few days ago, I discovered I could no longer receive emails from one of my Hotmail accounts by clicking on the Get Mail tab. Every time I tried, a small window appeared saying, "OPERATION INCOMPLETE. Authorisation for account Hotmail (1) failed. Please review "Server Details" below." Usually, this can be sorted out in IM by going Tools > Email accounts > Properties > Servers and re-entering my Hotmail password. However, this time it didn't. I just received a message saying, "ERR Authentication failure: unknown user name or bad password". After trying this on several occasions, I changed my Hotmail password and then entered the new one, but still received the same ERR message.
Having recently downloaded Windows Updates, I wondered if this was the reason, so I did a Restore taking it back to a date before the Updates were installed, but it made no difference.
I then downloaded the latest version of Incredimail as this often corrects problems, or I should say, TRIED to download it, because I then started getting the following messages:
"[Error="POroxyNotAuthenticated" AuthResult=0 ImpCnt.exe - System Error"
"The program can't start because IMHttpComm.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"
"Incredimail Installer Information. Error 1904,Module C:\Program. Files\IncrediMail\Bin\ImViewU.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147220473. Contact your support personnel."
"Error loading C:\shimgvw.dll. A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed."
I then Googled downloading IMHttpComm.dll, but many sites advised against doing this as apparently some downloads contain viruses and malware that can damage your computer.
Finally, I ran Glary Utilities in the hope that that might fix things, but nothing changed.
I reported all this to Incredimail VIP Support on 2 occasions, but the only replies I have received (the same each time) is "Please note that our response time is longer than usual following high volume of requests. We kindly ask that you do not send duplicate requests and we will respond as soon as possible to all issues."
I would be very grateful for any help in sorting this out as I'm not very computer literate and cannot think of what else I can do.
I agree with Jollyjohn, or failing that, perhaps a System Restore back to at least a week before the suspect Windows Update(s).
Jollyjohn Thank you. That thought about IM having a problem had crossed my mind, too. I have been signing in to Hotmail, but I find it really hard to read the emails as the list of received emails are squeezed up on the same page as the email itself. In Incredimail you can view each individual email on a page to itself. There probably is a way to alter this, but I don't know how to do it.
Nontek Thanks for your suggestion. I have tried restoring it to a much earlier date, but it's made no difference.
