Unable to open linked web page in Windows 10

My 64-bit Windows 10 desktop has suddenly refused to allow me to open any website links in emails that I receive. Using eM Client, I get a message 'Unable to open web page' followed by the web page link address. If I switch to Outlook 2016 I get a message saying 'Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk.' Since I don't have a help desk (other than PC Advisor's forums) how do I change the settings to fix this problem?

I've just discovered that something has 'killed' my Opera browser - which was set as my default - so although I have other browsers, Windows 10 was not 'intelligent' enough to substitute one of those! I have now set a default browser and normal service has been restored.
