I am using Vista. Have received an email with attachment. When trying to open Adobe Reader states not supported file type and /or email not decoded. Any advise?

What is the file extension of the attachment

Sorry where will i find thus?

The attachment will be called something like picture.jpg

The .jpg is the file extension

The file extension is the part of the file after the dot. For instance - example.pdf - pdf is the extension.

after the attachment is doc.24kb

doc is normally an MS Word attachment.

Save the file first - then right click on it - and choose Open With - then choose MSWord to open it with. At that point, if you do have MSWord, you can set this to be the standard program to open doc files.

If you don't have Word try Wordpad. Otherwise download the free MSWord viewer and install it - then the attachment should open.

If you have Word, but the document is trying to open with Adobe Rader - then changing the program as per the earlier paragraph should work for the future too.
