I am unable to login to orkut.com since two months. whenever i open my browser Windows IE7 and type the address, the window closes and i get the message that ORKUT IS BANNED YOUR ADMINISTRATOR DID NOT WRITE THIS GUESS WHO DID IT. Anyone please advise me, is it because of any virus or any adware/spyware? I am cleaning my pc regularly with avgfree7.5 and i have steganos antispyware to remove any spyware but both are working fine. But i have checked in other pc's other than mine and i am able to login to my orkut account.

Sounds like someone is playing a joke on you, emcyes. Did someone have access to your PC? Try going to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc (if you're using XP, you don't say) and move your Hosts (no extension) file to another location, (your desktop for example), then reboot and try ORKUT again.

It certainly looks like you have a nasty on board. You should run all your Anti-everything programs, virus/malware/spyware etc soonest. If you still have the same thing after doing all that, do the same again only this time, go off-line and switch off your System Restore before re-running the programs.
Don't forget to switch System Restore back on when all is done.

I am using windows xp sp2 and everything was going smooth and suddendly since 2 months or so i am facing this problem and a peculiar thing is that as i tried to open the helproom/mypostings and clicked to open the views for which i was very anxious to see the browser suddenly closed without my knowledge and this happenned in my computer at home. I could open this page and reply only through my office computer. I will go through the process you all have mentioned once i reach home and let you know the result.

Dear friends, i tried all the methods but nothing is helpful to me so far. Really its a mess on my pc because i am unable to put the name orkut anywhere in my pc including search option, the window automatically closes and i am getting the same error message again and again.
I tried uninstalling IE7 and used the older version, used opera and firefox but instead i get the message "I LIKE OPERA BUT USE IE OR ELSE!" I also used a link provided by p:3 and downloaded MALWARE REMOVER but it did scanned and found some 8 malwares but before removing the software insists me to purchase it to quarantine. Can anyone guide me to get a freeware.

Seems you have this infection; click here

All the software p3 linked to will clean your PC free . A scan with your AV wouldn't hurt either, though if it's any good it should have picked up that problem and removed it already. Free tools (including some of the ones p3 linked to) here click here
