Unable to find external drive

  ukhomerj2003 12:18 28 Feb 2010

I have an external hard storing music videos etc. I am unable to find this in My Computer. When i turn the drive on, the lights come on and the PC gives a beep to ecognise it is connected, however i can not see it in My Computer,
I have tried plugging into different USB ports, and same errors
Any ideas please?

when I plug in my external it depends in what order I do it. If the power is on to it and I plug it in often it is not seen. If I plug the usb in and then turn the power on it is found. Try connecting it differently and see which works best.

Nope doesnt work.

Tried power off, usb connected then power on.
Tried power on, usb disconnected then connecte, didnt work.
Both times computer beeps in recognition of either power on, or usb plugged in.

Try cleaning system with Ccleaner, including cleaning registry. It sorted mine out when it couldn't see hard drive. click here
