unable to browse after hibernation start-up

  The Scorpion 22:30 30 May 2007

After start up from hibernation mode when I click on internet explorer icon I get the message 'The page cannot be displayed-----' and tried all other web-sites but same message comes up. Surprisingly this does not happen on normal start-up.

My wireless connections are fine with good signal strength. My OS is XP Pro. and I use Netgear usb adaptor.

My problem is why can't I browse web sites after strat- up from hibernation mode of my lap-top?

Many thanks.

Chances are that XP is set in device manager to allow the USB ports to go to sleep. This will result in the USB adapter npot being powered.

Right click 'My Computer' and select properties.
Then select the 'Hardware' Tab and ' Device Manager' button.

On the device manager tree scroll down to the bottom and select all the USB ports one by one, Right click them and select 'Properties' Then the 'Power management' Tab....

On that window you should see a tick box allowing you to turn off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.

Hope that helps....
