unable to access web-site icon after AVG installed

  cordeiro 11:26 09 Jun 2010

My computer uses Windows XP SP3. I had icons on my desk-top to access web-sites (my favorites).
These could be accessed by double-clicking the icons. I am unable to do since
I installed AVG anti-virus after actually buying it.
The only way I can visit the website is by double-clicking Internet Explorer icon and then entering the web-site address. The desk-top icons to not respond. Please help.

If you have not run the Wizard after the installation,I strongly recommend that you do so as soon as possible. Without completing the Wizard, your protection might be unnecessary high (some applications might not work due to Firewall restricting rules).

Also, it is advisable to run the Wizard upon each major configuration change in your computer (a newly installed application etc.) to update the Firewall settings accordingly.

To launch the Wizard at any time:

1. Open AVG Main Screen.

2. Double-click the Firewall component.

3. Press the Configuration wizard button (at the bottom of the dialog).

I found AVG Firewall difficult to use and switched it off and used windows firewall instead.
Or remove the icons and from favorites and download them again and they should work ok.
