ubuntu 5.10 linus - speedtouch 330 - uk online ?

  nuke 11:56 18 Jun 2006

Hope someone will be able to help!

I've been trying to connect my modem Speedtouch 330 to the internet with little sucess.

Ubuntu is reading the modem but I can't seem to go online.

I've followed the advice on:

amongst others.

I keep getting 'the interface ppp0 is not configured'

My ISP is Uk Online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please also note I'm new to Linux!

To be honest, I think it would be very much easier to get online using a router and connecting by ethernet, than to get a USB ADSL modem running under Linux. Ethernet is basically "platform-independent" and there is no software or driver installation required.

I have SuSE 10 Linux and, as soon as the installation was completed, I was online because the PC was already connected by ethernet to a router.
