Two computers to one printer

  churchwarden 10:47 07 Feb 2003

I have an HP Pavilion PC with an HP Office Jet G55 printer which work fine. I have purchased my wife a Sony Vaio laptop on which she will keep confidential church records. I have also purchased a 'Belkin' F1U125 'Autoswitch'. Both computers run on windows XP Home and should both be able to access the printer through the autoswitch. When both machines are connected - neither will print even though the printer displays '1 copy'! The autoswitch has a manual select button to change from one pc to the other but this makes no difference. Your help, in words of one syllable please, would be greatly appreciated. I cannot claim to be too computer literate!!!

It may be that HP Office Jet G55 Because it's Bi-Directional, Have you got the right cables as they will not work on plain parallel cables

PS Also check that the printer is set to Bi-Directional in the spool settings
