two BB speed tests ?

  Ikelos 19:57 28 Apr 2006

hi, Just to give some idea what speed the download speeds on BT BB is running at I ran the and it comes back at between 1395 and 1938 downstream connection speed..I was on the 2mb now it should be the 8mb, I realize that it will be about half that, anyway, just found the netgear router wireless router has it's own speed thingy... and that says it is 3648kbps.would the router be more accurate ?

I have just completed all three checks, and on my Tiscali 2MB service, they are showing 96% efficient, which is very good. Have been down to as low as 75%.

When did they apply 8 meg (DSL Max) ? Remember the system logs your line for the first 10 days before establishing a final speed for it.

You said in another post that you were being upgraded on the 26th. Your speed appears to have been limited to 2Meg which can happen for the first 3 days of your upgrade as did in my case. After 3 days, your speed should improve to just below your sync rate.

You will have to wait until the 10 days training period is up to see what speed your line can handle.

What are your router stats? These are mine as an example

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 26 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin 9 db 27 db

the first time i got the date wrong, not the 26th but the 28th...on the 28th i got the email from BT telling me the upgrade was done :-) now slower than it was before :-(( i think it is a case of me having nothing better to do than keep checking the speed, they all come out slow, except the netgear router dg834g ver2, which gives a speed of 3648kbps, all the independant one's give a speed between 1395 and 1938.

so, as many of you have pointed out, time will tell.................thanks
