Two ADSL modems on same line?

I apologise in advance if this is a stupid question.

I have just logged on for the first time using ADSL, with a modem that I had to purchase from BT. A friend of mine is selling an ADSL modem cheaply.

I have two PC's in different locations, both by a socket for the same phone line.

My question is, if I puchase the 2nd ADSL modem from him will I be able to connect both of them at the same time?

If the answer is no then I guess that I'll have to look into networking them.

Thanks in advance

Iain.

No, not at the same time. The exchange would see two modems as a fault and disable ADSL.

If you network the PCs, you will only need one modem.

OK, thanks

What would be the best & cheapest wireless network? The PC's are on different floors, and I don't really want cables running all over the place.

Not in my portfolio! I would start a new thread for wireless.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
