you have a program corrupting your memory, have you installed any software or updates?

Yes, I have, and done registry cleaning etc., I thought it might be that.
Thanks for coming back!

try system restore to a date prior to your reg clean.

what reg cleaner did you use it might have an undo or restore feature.

if that goes nowhere run SFC

how did you get on

Many thanks for asking.
I used M.S. MEMory tester, no problem. Then used 'Autoruns' bootup program and turned off each programe in turn. I found it was 'SUPERSPY.' I deleted it from 'Control Panel/Add & Delete' but it kept coming back as it was a line in the Registry, which I had to delete from the boot process. Done in 'Autorun' again. I've re-booted a couple of times and I have not seen it.

Sorry I didn't answer your question. I used 'Little Registry Cleaner.' I also used your suggestion SPC.

Fault came back/ Removed PC TOOLS Firewall [FCService.exe was the header on the fault indicator- this is a PC Tools firewall file]
Re-installed WIN XP firewall, fault cured.
