on my xp based notebook, i used to have three button options when i clicked, "start - turn off computer"

these being Stand By, turn off and Restart,

but since installing some bits from microsoft, i have completely forgotten what now, all i get is an drop down options list.

i would prefer to have the old buttons back.

does any one advise on how i can achieve this?

clem

Open User Accounts in Control Panel, click on Change the way users log on or log off, click on Use the Welcome Screen - that should sort it.
