trying to use the XP burning program- but...

The XP burn routing works pretty well for me for the odd transfer to disk of data file
But i use CDBurnerXP Pro for DVDs and heavier stuff.
Today I am trying to copy sam,e files[program patches] from the external hard drive using the XP built in burn program.
The file seemed to have copies of Ok but I keep getting ;You have Files ready to Burn Balloon come up and when clicked only the CD drive opens the transfer window does not,
So why is that an where does one go looking to find the files ready to burn?

Try ashampoo's free burning software.
Leave whatever programs you have on your PC; in case it affects the burning side of things.
Worth a try.

I normally do use an external burn program as explained that's fine.

I occasionally for quickness use the built in one.
When one does that the files copy to a temp folder and come up with a side panel asking -Do you want to burn these? Click OK and the burn runs.

I am getting the files ready to burn balloon as normal. The D drive opens to real a blank disk- as normal
But the folder with the files ready to burn does not. Why is that?
Where does the folder reside?
Its a system thing guys.

C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

"But the folder with the files ready to burn does not. Why is that? " - opening the drive from My Computer, even without a disc inserted shows the files waiting to be burned on my system. You mean that's missing?

I now know where to look- checked it out.
Meanwhile I said sod it and fired up CD Burner XP Pro- which promptly got cracking.
Where upon the system Burner window came up- saying 'Cant do it' and then WMP11 came up and asked Shall I burns these?
To which my reply was -'Dangling spheroid objects.'

Thats right that window did not appear using the XP method.
But showed as soon a XP CD Burner Pro got going.
