trojan win32/renos problem

  squashman 10:34 01 Nov 2008

My son, running xp, seems to have been infected with the above. When boots up, defender flaged up the problem and offered fix which when he clicked, crashed the system.
Not sure what security he has, I think norton, defender and spybot.
Any ideas how he should procede please

As far as I know this gets rid of here Best bet would be to update it then go into safe mode and run it.

If no joy with Superantispyware, download and update Mbam = Malwarebytes click here

Then boot into safemode and run Mbam, this should take care of the trojan.

Son tried superantispyware in safe mode and found 14 trojans!
Problem solved
Thanks for the help
