Trojan horse virus removal?

  Cooter 13:48 08 Nov 2004

Hi, I have, according to my AVG antivirus, a trojan horse virus on my pc. Avg succesfully removes it but then no sooner has it been removed it then reappears. AVG says it is found in the file "System File information......". In fact AVG always spots about 5 or 6 viruses on my pc which it says it removes, then I can rescan and (while offline) and the same viruses appear again. Any ideas what this is doing and how I get rid of it.

Just a thought but my Norton antivurus, which has just run out, never spotted this while the AVG always did!?

Turn off system restore, reboot and then turn it back on. (start-programmes-accessories-sytem tools-system restore)

thanks Gandalf, sounds surprisingly simple, I will give that a go in a moment. Will let you know the outcome. I dont need to actually do a system restore though?

When you turn system restore back on, it will automatically create a new restore point.

as I suspected, a surprisingly simple solution that didnt work! The AVG still says it has removed the virus's but they are still there.
