Triple or quad mobo

I am about to commence yet another self-build project and would appreciate some of your thoughts.

I was considering an X58 chipset which utilises triple channel memory, but now I see that quad-channel motherboards are becoming available.

I would appreciate any thoughts which you may have as to which is better, triple or quad.

I have only this to decide now as the other components have all been selected, although not purchased as yet.

I know this is a bit vague, but this is the only point on which I am confused and could do with some input. Many thanks in anticipation.
