trasfer photos/music knackered p.c to new laptop

hi there ! what's the easiest way to transfer my music(windows media player)/photos from my old p.c(it's pretty much kaput !6 yrs old )to my new laptop windows 7,i've got a few thousand songs and 500 ish photos, if memory stick is the answer , what size should i get and how much do they cost on average , thx

thx marg7 you suggest use dvd to burn ,does that mean put dvd disc into old pc burn music/photos then transfer to new laptop ? wont that take a lot of discs or can i use r/w dvd ? sorry for being so 1960's but eh ! cheers for your patience

Remove drive from old PC and put into a USB external caddy click here

Plug into USB port on new PC.

You might also consider an external HD?
This could have far more capacity then a DVD or pen drive.

It should have a USB connection and then can be plugged in to your laptop or most other computers as you wish.
Its own power supply too, so no drain on the Laptop.

(If you have a spare HD with large enough capacity from another PC, all you now need is a suitable enclosure.)

There is a bewildering range among most suppliers
