Toshiba A100 TA6 - DVD problem

Hi Guys

well, it seems that this notebook is getting more crazy..some times it recognize the DVD and many other times no presence for DVD! even after several shut down and restarts.. it was failed to let me see the DVD icon..and may be after couple of hourse it appeared normally!
Any help please :(

It could be the drive is on its way out,it also could be that the IDE interface has become faulty or has a lose connection.

It could be a few things. If the DVD icon is always there in My Computer and its just that it sometimes cannot read DVDs then it might need cleaning. If sometimes it appears in My Computer and sometimes it doesn't it could be a loose connection or it could maybe a corrupted windows file. If its a corrupt windows file and you have a windows disk you could attempt a repair but be sure you know what you're doing as if you do this wrong you could revert the laptop back to they way it was when you got it and lose all your files.
