Tiscali Broadband upgrade

  handful 12:18 03 Jan 2006

I just noticed that Tiscali have increased the speed on their broadband packages. I have just upgraded from 1mb unlimited to 2mb unlimited with no cost increase. I wonder how long it would have been before they offered this to me?? Just in case anybody else isn't aware, sign up for the no cost upgrade :o)

Forgot to mention, this is on the broadband + phone package - £19.99 a month

Tried this myself, but didn't give me the option to upgrade. E-mailed them but seemingly my phoneline as yet can't take more than the 1 meg.

I was already on the 2Mb package with 'phone, and they have just written to tell me they are giving me a refund!
Happy New Year, Tiscali.

I am on 1mb unlimited costing £14.99 per month. I can upgrade to 2mb at £17.99 per month. Does anyone know if it is worth the extra £3, will I really see a difference ?
I should be glad of your opinions.

Not in normal use. Big downloads yes.

I was on the 2MB 2GB cap service until the recent service "enhancements". I'm now on 1MB but haven't noticed any great disadvantage.

However, I was on 1MB unlimited at £15.99 (same price as the 2MB 2GB cap), and noticed I could get it for £14.99. So I did the "downgrade", only to end up with 1MB 2GB cap.

Tiscali customer services put me onto 1MB unlimited again at the lower price but, so far, it's not taken effect; I've since tried the "upgrade" from the capped situation to 1MB unlimited at £14.99 but it doesn't work.

My upgrade/downgrade section lists both the 1MB and 2MB BB and Anytime Phone calls at £19.99 a month..:-)

Thanks for that, I had the feeling that it would make very little difference. The download speeds I get vary enormously depending on how busy the site is (I think) I can get well over 2mb and at the other end of the scale down to watching paint dry :-)

If you try DrTCP you can speed up your 1MB service - mine is currently running at 1.25MB.

If the 1mb information was a result via a Tiscali on-line upgrade check, then try upgrading from your Tiscali account section, if you are already a subscriber.

Failing that, check with your line provider or click here

Downloading now, I will give it a try.
