Time and date resetting themselves

  SHUNNA 19:27 17 Nov 2003

Don`t Know if it`s a coincedence, but since upgrading from Win98 to Xp Pro a couple of weeks ago, three times i have had to reset the time and date. It goes back to 01 JAN 01 0000 Hrs. Could this be a battery problem?

Could be a Bios problem, have you gat the latest for your Mobbo

is the time correct in the bios?

maybe you need a new battery.

I keep resetting it in the Bios. On a previous computer i had, when the battery was down it kept losing time but not setting it back to Zero. This keeps quite good time

if its always kept time up untill now then i dont think its the bios itself that needs updating.

i think its the battery needs replacing.

Check the battery, they don't always die slowly.

Thank all, I`ll check the battery tomorrow

There may be a clear CMOS jumper near the battery on the motherboard that on the wrong pins check manual if you have one, or as above the battery needs replacing but I would not think so as these last many years

I put this computer together in May 2002 (Jetway V266B Mob)and have never had a problem with Time/Date until, like I said earlier, I upgraded to Xp (coincedence?) so it can`t be a jumper problem. Anyhow I haven`t been inside it today to check battery as it is still showing correctly.
