Thunderbird broken ?

  geoff47 17:17 16 May 2010

I have been using Thunderbird for some time without any problem.
I have now found I cannot open Thunderbird when trying to contact website email links.
Normally when clicking on an Email link Thunderbird opens a window on top of the browser, whatever browser I am using.
Now it doesn't, in Safari it shows an error message along the lines " Microsoft windows doesn't recognise email addresses starting 'mailto'
I discovered this problem when locally testing an email link in a site I am building, I have since tried it on 'real' email links with the same result.
Any ideas ?
Is it Thunderbird or the way I have it setup ?

Thanks Marg7, but it must be Thunderbird.
In IE I get an error message that the default mail client is not properly installed.

I have been using it for several years and it has never done this to me.

I don't think I have altered anything, other than open Thunderbird in safe mode and search the web looking for solutions.

But everything is working fine again.

It's just Windows doing it's thing.

Thanks for trying to help......should have just put it off until tomorrow, and then believe I had imagined it.
