You have to set thunderbird as default mail program and probably tell AVG that too - I don't use AVG so can't tell you about how to do that.

Is there a free antivirus tool for Thunderbird?
"I have found the problem when I reinstall AVG 7 Free edition. There is an option that I must

choose: when install AVG, select the option Custom installation (not Standard).

When the E-mail scanning box appear, select Advanced configuration (not Microsoft

Outlook-recommended. Then select Personal Email Scanner ( and another if you like).

With this, I can configurate AVG 7 Free edition manual."

To comply with the results request

Thunderbird is/was default
and AVG does not need configuring in this sense.
