Thinkpad won’t start up, please help

My lenevo thinkpad x260 won’t start up. It won’t go past the windows page. I have tried repair and starting from last good configuration, safe mode but no joy. When starting in safe mode it loads up to classpnp.sys then freezes. My daughter was last on it and said she was just listening to music. I have been trying to get it started for weeks now and I am just going around in circles. Anyone have any idea what this is please. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you. It is windows 7, no dvd/cd drive. I bought a usb from amazon with windows 7 on and tried booting from that but no joy (I maybe doing it wrong) I work in admin so ok on computer but not this technical stuff. Please help

Boot to the menu - select command prompt - sfc/ scannow (don't foget the space after /) - let windows scan for and replace missing or corrupt windows files it will take awhile. - when its finish type exit - reboot the laptop nad see if that works.

Don't go to safemode just run sfc /scannow from the command prompt
