Temp Internet Files

  Rick7 22:24 09 Nov 2006

My Temporary Internet Files folder has disappeared from where it should be. If I try to create a new folder with the same name an error message occurs saying that the folder already exists.

Can anyone please help me.

In windows explorer - try clicking tools > folder options > view > and ensure the "show hidden files and folders is selected"

If you are using xp the folder should be under "your name" documents and settings > Local settings > temporary internet files

Hope this helps

I think that the temp internet files folder has possibly been moved by downloading IE7?

Good point - Just had a look

If you go into the folder options, and uncheck the box for "Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended), and poof! The History Folder and the Temporary Internet Files folder should show up again.

Well, they did for me - why they are hidden that way in IE 7 I don't know

"why they are hidden that way in IE 7 I don't know" - most probably for privacy reasons I'd imagine. G

I had downloaded Internet explorer 7 and have unchecked the "hide protected operating system files" box. I now have my Temporary Internet Files folder back.

Thank you for your help everyone, it is very much appreciated
